CompanyCalAmp (NASDAQ: CAMP) CalAmp is a leading provider of mission-critical high value wireless communications solutions that enable anytime/anywhere access. CalAmp's Wireless DataCom Division services the public safety, industrial monitoring and controls, and mobile resource management market segments with wireless solutions built on communications technology platforms that include proprietary licensed narrowband, standards-based unlicensed broadband and cellular networks. CalAmp's Satellite Division supplies outdoor customer premise equipment to the U.S. Direct Broadcast Satellite (DBS) market. ChallengeCalamp completed five acquisitions between 2006 and 2008. The corporate headquarters was using a VoIP phone system from an early VoIP company, and the hosted phone service was being discontinued in 2006. Calamp was looking for a hosted VoIP provider with a solid history that they could count on to be there for them as they set out on an acquisition path, and make integrating voice and data networks easy. SolutionImpulse migrated the corporate headquarters to ClearStar hosted VoIP service without service interruption and provided bonded T1s of Enhanced Internet Access with a managed Cisco router for high reliability connectivity and Quality of Service voice routing. Calamp then rolled that service recipe out to eight more offices as they grew, highlighting how easy it is to grow with Impulse. While Calamp has a large IT team they benefit from the outsourced network engineering, VoIP, and Internet services that Impulse provides. |
