Lompoc, CA, August 19th, 2004 - Impulse Internet Services, Lompoc's first Internet service provider, announced today the expansion of their wireless Internet network serving the Lompoc area. Underserved areas in the Lompoc Valley with limited broadband Internet service options now have fixed wireless Internet service available.

Impulse has been providing dial-up and broadband access to the Lompoc area since 1994, and wireless Internet access to portions of the city of Lompoc since 2000. The expanded wireless network coverage enables broadband Internet access to areas currently outside the reach of traditional technologies such as DSL, including such areas as Mission Hills, Mesa Oaks, Cebada Canyon, and Tularosa Road.

"Over the years we've built a significant customer base in Lompoc, and we've been able to provide broadband service with DSL and T-1s to customers in the city of Lompoc, Vandenberg Air Force Base, and the Vandenberg Village area for years. Customers outside the reach of DSL have not had many options here though," said Dave Clark, Vice President and General Manager of Impulse Internet Services. "Our expanded wireless network makes our broadband reach in Lompoc nearly ubiquitous."

The service requires installation of a permanently "fixed" antenna with clear line of sight to the Impulse repeater south of Lompoc, and although operating in the same frequency as popular "hot spot" wireless technologies such as 802.11B and 802.11G, utilizes a proprietary protocol to transmit data to enhance security and speed. High speed wireless Internet service plans start at just $40/month for residential service and $70/month for business service, not including hardware and installation.
