Business and residences in these areas with limited broadband Internet service options now have fixed wireless Internet service available.

Impulse has been providing Internet access on the Central Coast for over a decade, and the expanded wireless network coverage enables broadband Internet access to rural areas currently outside the reach of traditional technologies such as DSL, with a reach that extends across the Santa Maria Valley from Sisquoc to Guadalupe Beach, and over the Nipomo Mesa into Arroyo Grande.

The service requires installation of a permanently "fixed" antenna with clear line of sight to an Impulse repeater, and although operating in the same frequency as popular "hot spot" wireless technologies such as 802.11B and 802.11G, utilizes a proprietary protocol to transmit data to enhance security and speed. High speed wireless Internet service plans start at just $40/month for residential service and $65/month for business service, not including hardware and installation.
