Family Update - 12-6-08

Mom
On November 4, 2008, mom was diagnosed with terminal cancer. We were told by the doctor that we should expect "weeks, not months". Well, here we are over one month later, and mom is still going strong. As a matter of fact, she is coming to California for Christmas! It is very possible that this will be our last Christmas together. So we plan to make this a special one. Mom's outlook is good, and she has come to terms with her illness. It will be a bitter/sweet Holiday season.

Adrianne

Adrianne is now managing the cosmetics department at Walgreen's . She enjoys the challenge or organizing and being responsible for her own area. They seem to like her work too. Next stop... Store Manager!!!???

One of the joys of having the kids with us is getting to spend a good deal of time watching our grand daughter grow up. She's been a pure delight! Alexa will soon be six, and is attending kindergarten this year. These are great years of growth for her. She is growing physically and developing a real passion for learning. And of course, she's the cutest grand daughter EVER!.

April
We are also fortunate to have our youngest daughter April live just across town from us. Although we don't get to see her as often as we'd like, she is close enough to spend all Holidays and other family events with us. April has also recently found a great job with Raytheon in Goleta (near Santa Barbara). It's a 50 mile commute each way. But she is able to take the bus on most days. April likes the work, and the people that she works with. From everything that I hear, they like her too.

Andre and Tara
Andre and wife Tara live in Hampton Roads, Virginia. Andre works at Langley A.F.B., and Tara works for a nearby school district. There's just no stopping those kids. They recently blessed our family with our second grand daughter, Ava, She was born on October 23, 2008. Everyone in the family is very excited. And of course, Bea is already made a trip back East to see Andre, Tara, and… oh yea… our grand daughter.

Me
Last January, I began a new career with MV Transportation, Inc. We provide mass transit services throughout the U.S., and most recently in Canada. Lots of travel and many new challenges. But MV has proven to be a great opportunity for me. God is good. I bought a 1915 Ford, Model "T" in October. My dad always wanted one, but never got around to buying it. The model that I have was made a year before dad was born. Because dad was so fond of this car, I think of him every time I see the car.

Bea
Bea continues to work for the School District. She's been there over 17 years now. Her greatest joy in life is our two grand daughters, Alexa and Ava. She is the love of my life!

Church
Please be in prayer for our family as we try to make a decision about our church home. First Southern Baptist Church has been our place of worship for nearly five years. But sadly, FSBC is in a state of decline. We continue struggle with whether to stay, or seek another church home. We are praying for God's wisdom in making this very important decision.
