About community service...

Dunn Middle School exists by the good graces and support of the larger community in the Santa Ynez Valley. Through our mandatory community service program students learn the meaning of "service". This requirement presents special challenges and rewards that are not readily obtained with the confines of the classroom. Our projects range from visiting convalescent homes and social service agencies, from holiday charities to trash pick-up in local parks and removing introduced weeds in the Las Padres National Forest. Every student is placed in situations requiring patience and fortitude, settings which give them a greater sense of belonging and local citizenship.
